Sending Resumes?

I will be graduating in april and am starting to work on my resumes and look for a job but I'm apprehensive about sending resumes online to companies. I know it is the way of the future and I like computers, etc, but I feel like they get lost more that way. I would prefer to mail out hard copies of my resume to companies but I was wondering if nowadays if companies appreciate that or if it would be acceptable?
