How do i stop my friend's and pillage is what the army does thought?

When ever he talks about the millitary he sees it as an evil nazi group sort of thing. He also thinks they and pillage what ever village or city they capture. Now it may have been done in the past but i'm very sure it's not done now because of the UN and geneva convention. So what sort of arguement can I say to tell him they dont' do it anymore? Cause i'm lost for words
